Artist Statement

My aim is to explore the duality that can co-exist within a single image, stories within stories. Using my favorite artists (classical Dutch masters, Impressionist, and Pointillism painters) as inspiration, I add my unique liquid-optical physics, and worlds within worlds are revealed. Meant to be viewed from both near and far, my work asks viewers to look closer, to discover that sometimes the smallest details contain entire worlds. Each droplet, drip, and rivulet contains a story. 

The “Raindrops” series harnesses surprise, uncertainty and serendipity. Flowing and unpredictable water is the medium used to reveal a deeper meaning for the viewer to discover. Each photo session is approached with the attitude that “I don’t know exactly what is going to happen, but the result will be good.” That message resonates with me as a metaphor for an exciting and fulfilled life.
